First dinner in America

We had an excellent barbecue as the first dinner when we met some teachers and their family. They are all friendly and kind, most of which have gone to China. And we chat with each other harmoniously.

Thankfully,Mike's mother prepared most food for us containing roasted chicken wings of three tastes, pasta ,vegetables and fruits. And Mike roasted organic drumsticks and sausages for us. Hans' mother also prepared some food to eat. Thanks to them,we enjoyed delicious food as the first dinner in America.

The food in Ohio is quite different from that in China. We often roast things like kebab, fish, chicken claw, eggplant, green pepper, mushroom and so on.And as for the taste,we used more spicy flavourings to be more irritant.Whereas,no matter how we cook and what we eat,the joy of being together with friends is the same.

After dinner, all of us divided into small groups to go for a walk.I came along with teacher Eric ,Hans, and other three classmates Catherine,Winnie and Henry. We walked around the lawn and continued chatting with each other.

Then a sudden rain occurred which poured us into a drowned rat.But to our surprise ,after rain a double rainbow appeared.White clouds floated in the sky, colorful rainbow shined the grass, refreshing breeze stroke our faces.Everything is so satisfying.

My first dinner in Ohio is a nice beginning of the stay here.Trying new things is great and I love drumsticks.^_^

  1. Great Joan! A different type of Chinese barbecue for sure, but the fun feelings are the same! Some of my greatest memories in China involve barbecue with friends. So basic but also very meaningful. It was a great walk around the park as well and glad we found the baseball dugout to hide from the rain for a bit.

  2. Nice to meet you, Joan. We had a great time that day and have a pleasant conversation with Eric and Hans. And I found you an outgoing girl with smiles on your face all the time. You are so energetic that I always feel full of energy when talking to you.
So as to the difference of food between China and America, I think it has complex factors. In my opinion, culture is the most important one. The tradition and the consciousness passed down by our ancestors effect what we think, what we behave and what we are used to eating.
Besides that, the climatic environment, the geographical condition and the dietary habit may influence our eating too.
I hope my views can do some help.Once again, I want to say Nice To Meet You,Johnny.! ^_^

    1. Well said Catherine. I have met people who are very open-minded about other cultures but refuse to try new ethnic foods. I am always very curious how they can live like that. I have found new foods and experiences with other foods to be one of the best, most rewarding parts of travel. The flavors might not be what you are normally accustomed to, which can give your tongue and mind some great new experiences.
