Willkomen in Ohio!
Witamy w Ohio!
Bienvenidos a Ohio!
I was so happy to meet all of you at the picnic ! And what a delight it was to meet you again in the Ohio Union! You all looked so happy -- and eager -- to go out and have an adventure discovering special things about some of Ohio State's buildings, gathering information, and practicing your English as you interviewed Americans on High Street and on campus. Thank you for sharing with all of us some of what you learned. I'm looking forward to spending more time with you, getting to know you, and sharing experiences and stories -- especially language stories.
...now...about me? ... you may have wondered about my greetings in different languages? I was born in the US, in the state of Arizona, but my parents were both children of immigrants. My father's parents immigrated to the US from Poland, and my mother's parents from Germany, so as a little girl, I easily learned common words like "sol i pieprz" and "salz und pfeffer." Can you guess what those mean?
Growing up in Arizona and hearing lots of Spanish and seeing Spanish words on signs and billboards -- and menus -- made it easy to learn words like "sal y pimienta." You can guess what that means, right? Spanish was also taught in my elementary school. I was so fortunate to have those language experiences when I was young.

I
love languages, and also studied French, Russian, and Arabic later in
high school and college. Of course, I made some funny mistakes while
learning.....Maybe you have some funny language stories too?
I'll close now ..and look forward to seeing you soon.
