This was the second day we are here in the Washington D.C. In the afternoon we
visited three war memorials, Korean War, Vietnam War and World War II. It was an
educational experience.

educational experience.
The Korean War Memorial, statues of 19 soldiers scattered on the ground. Each of
them is so vivid that you can see their faces, motions, gestures clearly. We know that
more than 52,000 soldiers of USA gave their lives to the war, but the artist only used
a squad of 19 statues to demonstrate the war. Maybe the artist wants to tell people
how these solders sacrificed their own lives to defend a country they even don’t
know. Peace comes with every single one’s sacrifice. China and America supported
different side in the war, while every single soldier is the same no matter which side
he is in.

However, as for the Vietnam War Memorial, thousands of names which belonged
to those who died in Vietnam on the wall represent a large scale of the war, applying
a solemn memory to people through which we can imagine how cruel and sad the
war was. It reminds us the huge cost of lives in the war and we wish no war anymore
in this world.

World War II Memorial is another kind of memorial. The memorial is mostly in white
which means justice and genuine. It feels like a sacred land to remember fight
between justice and evil which ultimately the justice won.
