Rock Climbing!

This Friday afternoon I went rock climbing with Eric. I was very excited as well as nervous because I had never gone rock climbing before and I only saw people do rock climbing on TV shows. As a girl who is not good at sports, it may seen strange that I made such a choice, but I think it's important to try something before you come to the thought that you can never do it. Even though it may be  proved that something doesn't suit you well after your try, that is an unique and interesting experience after all.
After a short drive, we arrived at the place where we were going to take a try of rock climbing. We put on special shoes and equipment for climbing, making sure that we would be safe during our climbing. Facing with the climbing wall for the first time, I was a little terrified because the wall seemed to be very high and upright. I could never reach the top! That was exactly what I thought at the sight of the climbing wall.

Fastening the rope, I finally started my turn. As beginner, I was suggested to use green stones which were easier to climb, and it seemed not as difficult as I had thought. After I finished about 2/3 of my climbing, I was trapped. Above me there seemed to be no suitable stones for me to catch. I hesitated, didn't know what to do. Then I heard Eric's voice 'USE YOUR LEGS! THERE IS A GREEN ONE NEAR YOUR KNEE!'. I looked down, finding the green one right there and stepped on it. I was so excited that I finally made it to the top!

I also learn something from my experience of rock climbing. Firstly, you should never say you cannot do something until you try it with all your strength. Secondly, helps from others can help a lot when you are trapped in troubles. Thirdly, on the way to your goal, though focusing on the goal is important, it matters more to mind the steps you are taking.

  3. That's a great experience! You make me think of the time that I tried to go climbing when I was a 9-year-old child. Although climbing may be a tough mission for most of us, we still have to try it.

  6. Good job Snow! Reading this blog I can feel your excitement even I'm sitting before this cold screen! and it's hard for me to imagine how can Snow, this cute little girl, can take such a challenging work, and make such a high climbing.
Just as you've mentioned, one should never say you cannot do something until you try it with all your effort. I do agree with that. When I was learning Japanese in my fresh man year, there was a time that I was almost about to quit because of the heavy burden in my school works, but I got encouragement from the teacher and I refreshed myself, and I made my decision to give another try, and here I am, I made it, succeeded in passing the JPLT exams. I think it's the same as what you've experienced.
What a fortune for us to learn that! We'll benefit from it the whole life!~

  9. What a super, super post Snow! For some reason I missed this post earlier this week. Glad I found it!

I love your three takeaways so much I'm going to post them again:

    1. Firstly, you should never say you cannot do something until you try it with all your strength
    2. Secondly, helps from others can help a lot when you are trapped in troubles.
    3. Thirdly, on the way to your goal, though focusing on the goal is important, it matters more to mind the steps you are taking.

When I come to Wuhan this fall we should go to the rock gym!
