Welcome to WTOSP 2015. I'm Pete (WeChat ID: petercdullyjr), and I'll be with you for the whole time you're here as one of Mike's assistants. This is my fourth or fifth time working with WTOSP full-time since it started--the only times I've missed are those summers I've been in Wuhan or when my son was born. I first went to Wuhan in 2005, and I've been a teacher at WUSIEP five times now. I love China, and I love Wuhan University. My experiences there have changed my life in more ways than one, and I hope that the next three weeks will be similarly transformative for all of you.
I grew up in New York, so I look forward to going there with you in a couple of weeks so I can show you some of the things I enjoyed while I was growing up. In 1992, I came to Columbus, and I've been teaching writing and literature at O.S.U. ever since. It's amazing to me that I've been lucky enough to have this job for the past twenty-two years. In my spare time, I like baseball, cooking, reading, running and travel.
In 2007, when I was at Wuhan University, I met a beautiful woman named Alyssa Francis. I fell in love with her on the romantic campus at WuDa and we've been together ever since. We live in a house just north of campus, so I'll ride my bike to meet you most days. In 2012, our son, Walter (Chinese name: Wu Tien) was born. Our friend Minru calls Walt "WUSIEP Baby Number One" because he is the first baby born from the partnership between our two universities.
We're going to have a great time this next three weeks--we will do things that will change our lives and change the world a little bit at a time. I am grateful I get to be a part of it.
Hey Pete! Love the pictures, and we can't wait to see Walt at the picnic tonight.
